O.M.G. Here I am adding to my huge list of things to do by creating a blog. I haven't wrote regularly since xanga (do you remember xanga?!) and I only stopped because some very eccentric man decided to read seven years worth of xanga in one night, take notes, and then post it back up on my xanga. THAT WAS CREEPY. please don't do that.
So here it goes. This will hopefully chronicle Luna's life a bit better since I'm hopelessly behind in actually journaling. Maybe typing it out will be more time efficient and hence bring me to blog more often, for Luna's sake.
I was talking to some of the older Korean ladies and one of them said that the first birthday party locations are so far booked in advance that if you want to book your party at a nice, affordable place on the date that you want it, you have to book even before your baby is born. WHAT?! That means, I am at least 173 days behind. Apparently it costs about 30,000 won to 150,000 won per head, depending on how ritzy you like it. REALLY?! I'm afraid Luna is going to have to celebrate her first birthday the old fashioned way. When I say old fashioned, I really do mean old fashioned like how I did it when I turned one. I did mine at HOME. Of course, home in Korea was a lot larger than it is today. We will see how we go about throwing this once in a lifetime event, Luna.
I went to Homeplus the other day to look at the foam mats for Luna. I know Pororo, the idol god of the toddlers in Korea, mats are super expensive. But now I'm super confused. They have the cheaper ones (around 50,000 won) at the width of 1.2 cm and then the super expensive ones (like more than 100,000 won) with the width of 15. what the heck?! there is no unit after 15. 15 what? 15 mm? It seems like 15 mm but with that .3 difference, I don't understand why it is twice the cost of the 1.2 cm thick mat. sigh...
Looking for straw cups for Luna is another story! Who would've ever thunk that there would be so many different straw cups with so many different variations with so many different reviews?! My head hurts after looking up these reviews online, especially since I end up reading for over an hour. I can't even sit that long to do work now a days...
Hi! I just stumbled on your blog from somewhere...I'm a mom raising a baby in Korea, too. I have a 4 month-old girl and a 4 year-old boy, and I definitely liked your product reviews in the other post because I have been eager to try some other diapers (so far only tried the Huggies, Bosomi, and Homeplus brand). I'd be interested if you ever try GOON.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I, too, had a Xanga once. I found it recently and laughed for a long time at my old posts. :)
Haha i think i would just roll on the floor if i read my xanga. you must be feeding if you're up at this odd hour. The life of moms... i'll try the goon diapers soon. Thanks for reading!
